About ASME
​The American Society of Mechanical Engineering, commonly abbreviated as ASME, was founded in 1880 and is a global and multidisciplinary professional society. Although ASME was originally founded for just American mechanical engineers, it has since expanded to include mechanical engineers around the world. The society focuses on developing standards and codes, conducting research, providing networking opportunities, and acting as a lobbying group with the government.
